Travel Agent Publications
This a brief list of travel agent publications that I have found useful over the years.
Travel Agent Central
Travel Agent Central is one of the largest publications for travel agents. It provides current events, identifies trends in travel, and is a great resource for any agent who want s to stay on the cutting edge. I don’t know many travel agents who don’t read this religiously.
In fact, it is (at the time of this writing) the only national travel agent publication delivered on a weekly basis. Highly recommended.
You can learn more about them at their website www.travelagentcentral.com.
Travel Weekly
Similar to Travel Agent Central, though more on the business to business side. If you want to become a better travel agent, go for Travel Agent Central; if you want to improve your agency as a whole, this is it. You can access their website at www.travelweekly.com, which is full of solid information, including jobs, hot spots, industry news, and links to all the travel sites under the same company (close to a dozen of them now).
Travel Age West (also part of Travel Weekly)
This is a publication I have read for years. While light on content, it does feature interesting articles (particularly if you work in the leisure travel department). One of my favorite articles had to do with the new seven wonders of the world (including Petra, the Coliseum in Rome and the statue of Mary in Rio to name a few). This is more a publication for travel agents themselves, as it helps them plan their own trips. Great photographs as well. If you are interested in more travel agent publications, visit the travel weekly site and sign up for their newsletter, as well as their partner sites as well. You can also visit tour provider sites, such as Princess Cruises or Trafalgar Tours and sign up for their programs. All of these are free, and will help improve your industry knowledge, sales skills, and love for travel. |
