Motorcycle Tents
Motorcycle tent camping is without a doubt one of the best ways to see the world. I have known too many people who fly to distant lands, take an air conditioned shuttle to their resort hotel, and spend a whopping one week vacation fully insulated from their destination. Traveling by motorcycle and sleeping in a tent will not only allow to enjoy the landscape more intimately, it will also force you to slow down and enjoy life at a more natural pace.
I am a firm believer that jet lag is the ultimate sign we are moving too fast. Get on your motorcycle and actually SEE the world around you, then spend a quiet evening watching the sun set after a long day’s ride.
There are two ways you can go camping on your bike. The first is to ride to your destination, park your bike, set up the tent for yourself, and hit the hay. Recently, I’ve seen a few new products arrive on the market that allows you to both. At BikerTent, you can purchase an extra large tent that houses you and your motorcycle; there’s even a separate compartment for the sleeping quarters! I have to admit, if I were to go on a long road trip (one month or more) I would seriously consider looking into a Biker tent.
If you are camping the traditional way, you’re still in luck. Unlike cyclists, who have to carry everything they pack, you are really only restricted by the size of your saddlebags. If you are traveling two per motorcycle, it may be wise to look into a motorcycle trailer. You can get a brand new one from Harley Davidson for less than seven hundred dollars.
The best providers for a motorcycle tent are Biker Tent and North Face. The best road tested tent has got to be the Sierra Designs Sirius 3, which sleeps three people comfortably, and can fold nicely into your saddlebags.
