Coleman tent trailers are among the most popular pop up trailers in America today, and continue to grow thanks to their lightweight models. Tent trailers have several advantages over their larger counterparts: their smaller size makes them more accessible to the average camper (who drives a car or pickup truck rather than a large truck or SUV) as well as more gas efficient. This, coupled with rising gas prices, has made the Coleman models some of the best camping investments a family can make (besides a National Park pass, that is!)

It is best to search for tent trailers locally through dealers themselves, as they usually offer warranties. However, checking your local classifieds or craigslist can’t hurt, and deals are certainly available. When looking to purchase, make sure to check if a hitch is included the price of the trailer (this can really affect your bottom line). Also, check the power requirements; just because the trailer comes with a coffeemaker doesn’t mean you’re going to want use your generator for it.

When I look for tent trailers, I look for a good sized one (room for four) with a small kitchen. If you are interested in more amenities, the higher end ($10,000+) offer showers and toilets. In my experience, you get more value sticking to the middle range, as most campgrounds offer showers and toilets, but no cooking stoves. Coleman tent trailers carry on a long tradition; they’ve been in business for over thirty years, and I have yet to hear any negative comments regarding their products. Remember, a tent trailer is literally your home away from home, so take your time before investing in one; you may have a few sleepless nights picking the right one out, but you’ll have many, many more if you choose the wrong one!
