Emergency Jet Charter
Let’s hope we never need an emergency jet charter, but here’s some information just in case
Emergency jet charters, also know as air ambulances, are used to medically assist people in an emergency when a regular ambulance won’t do (either the ambulance can’t get there fast enough or there is no way of getting there by road). Typically these are high emergency situations. Emergency jet charters have experience crews (specially trained pilots and emergency medical response personnel) and equipment (ventilators, medication, an ECG and monitoring unit, CPR equipment, and stretchers) to help treat patients during transportation to a hospital.
Emergency jet charters were originally developed for military purposes but are now widely used throughout the world for civilians as well. In fact, before I left on a trip to South East Asia, my friend who is a nurse said, “be sure you know how to get air lifted out of the country should an emergency arise.” I immediately began to sweat with anxiety because it had never occurred to me that I might actually need an emergency jet charter. Never the less, I’m glad she brought it up because it’s better to be prepared for these situations. Let’s take a closer look…
The fee for being emergency jet evacuated is significant. Generally private companies (such as charter companies and hospitals) will charge for the service. In some countries, donations from business and public donations will cover the costs of the service. Some travel insurance companies will cover the costs as well so be sure to ask your insurance provider.
