As a proud penny pincher, I’ve put together a list of tips that will help you get those sought after discount international flights: Purchase tickets from airline at wholesale. Look for consolidators who buy airline flights in bulk at a discount. Keep in mind that these providers are generally only useful on international flights for specific carriers, so it will pay off to shop around a bit. Search for airline consolidators on the web for your specific location. Check your status. There are more discount fares available than you think, and you may belong to one of those groups inclined to receive one. For example, seniors, students, children, infants travel partners, and AAA members are all entitled to a discount on airline flights. Break your trip up. This is a two part strategy. First, get the lowest available domestic flight to an international hub. Then purchase the international flight from that hub. For example, if you are flying to Europe from the USA you can fly to New York or Atlanta (if you are flying Delta) with the cheapest flight available, then purchase an international flight to London, and finally a cheap flight to your destination with RyanAir. This strategy works even better if you are able to use frequent flyer miles for one or more of these segments. Check with your provider and see if you qualify.
