They are, in my opinion, the best way to start a marriage, and I should know; my wife and I went on a round the world trip for one year as our honeymoon. While abroad, we were exposed to a variety of experiences, and learned more about ourselves (and each other) than we ever could have back home.
So let’s take a look some of the most popular weddings and honeymoons abroad: Weddings and honeymoons abroad: My Top Three. Thailand. Of all the great honeymoon locations abroad, none fit the bill as well as Thailand. You truly get it all: gorgeous white sand beaches, world class diving, food to die for, Buddhist temples, rock climbing… and all of this can be done for the price of dinner for four in the United States. My wife and I flew to Thailand first, where we promptly headed south to Phuket and Koh Samui to chill out for two months. There is no better way to relax than life in a bungalow on a tropical island. Mexico. For Americans at least, Mexico is one of the most popular wedding and honeymoon vacations abroad. Cozumel is great for folks looking for a dive escape, while Cancun is solid for serial beachcombers. Wherever you go in Mexico, I highly recommend you at least take a day to venture out and see what the locals do; it’s enlightening to see how different the lifestyles are between tourists and locals. Hawaii. Weddings and honeymoons abroad is a relative term; which is why I include Hawaii in this article. While all the islands have their charms, I would recommend only two islands for honeymooners: Oahu and Maui. Oahu is home to Waikiki, one of the most famous beaches in the world, and can be a world class destination for couples looking for beautiful people, nightlife and entertainment. Maui is more for the laid back couples looking for swimming, diving and solace. Depending on what you’re looking for, both these islands are great. Weddings and honeymoons abroad are magical experiences, and provide newlyweds with a great start to their marriage. |
