Vietnam Vacation Spots

Here’s the best Vietnam vacation spots today.

For anyone interested in visiting Southeast Asia, you would be remiss to leave Vietnam out of your itinerary. It offers beaches, cuisine and culture that will rival any other country in the region, even Thailand.

Here are some of the best Vietnam vacation spots:

Hanoi. There are places in the world that are meant to be seen (such as the Grand Canyon or Taj Mahal) and there are places that are meant to be experienced; Hanoi is definitely the latter. Rather than “seeing the sights” you are far better off roaming the city on your own timeline. Hanoi still retains much of the French influence, which means you can count on incredible pastries and winding, sloping, zig zagging roads. Hanoi is one of the few places where three rights don’t make a left! In all seriousness, you should take a few days and get lost in this wonderful, laid back city.

Halong Bay. A day trip from Hanoi, the scenery along this eastern coast is absolutely breathtaking. The rock spires rising majestically from the water seem ancient, as if time has frozen. I cannot recommend this vacation spot more highly.

Hoi An. Lodging in Hoi An is relatively inexpensive, even along the delta itself. While there are many, many industries here geared specifically to tourists, this town has been able to retain its charm. Part of the reason for this is due to the relative obscurity of it during the American War (or Vietnam War, depending on how you look at it). This town was left untouched during the war, and as such retained several centuries old buildings that you can still see today.

Nha Trang. By this point you’re probably sick of the humidity that is ever-present in spots throughout Vietnam. Enter the small coastal town of Nha Trang, which boasts the lowest humidity levels in Vietnam. Any vacation through Vietnam should include a stop in this intriguing town, with absolutely world class beaches that make even Thais a little jealous!

In my opinion, these are the four best Vietnam vacation spots, and can be seen in as little as two weeks, though I’d recommend taking three to four weeks to fully experience this lovely country.
