Yacht Cruises in Greek Islands

Highlights of yacht cruises in the greek islands

There are countless cruises along the Greek Islands, and the only problem you will is not wanting to take them all! Fortunately, there are several highlights along the way that all cruises cover, giving you the opportunity to visit both the Turkish and Greek islands.  Let’s cover the highlights that you’ll find on yacht cruises in the greek islands.

Piraeus.  This suburb on the outskirts of Athens is the ideal setting off point for a Mediterranean cruise. Before your departure, make sure to spend an afternoon at the top of Castella, an upscale neighborhood with a commanding view of Athens and the surrounding gulf. Another highlight is the beautiful architecture of the Municipal Theater.

Mykonos. Arguably one of the ten best scenes for nightlife in the world, Mykonos is an island like few others. It’s decadent affairs are reminiscent of Ibiza or the full moon parties in Thailand, and the beaches are just as incredible. Spend an afternoon (preferably before the night you hit the bars) walking along the coastline and drink in the atmosphere.

Kusadasi. This coastal town of Turkey overlooks the Aegean sea, and is quaint in the off and shoulder seasons, before growing ten times its population when the yachts begin rolling during the summer/autumn months.

Santorini. Of all the greek islands, none in my opinion are more beautiful than those volcanic islands that make up Santorini. A long time favorite among cruisers and beachcombers, you can find yourself lost amidst precariously placed buildings that hug the edge of the caldera (the giant volcano whose top blew off in years past).  Spend as much time as you can walking these streets, and be prepared to be awed as twilight comes over the towns of Oia and Thira. I have said it before, and I’ll say it again: there are places to visit, and there are places to experience. Santorini is certainly the latter.

Yacht cruises in Greek islands are truly a magical experience, and these are just some of the islands you will encounter. Take your time and enjoy: cruises are meant to be relaxing, and few people are more natural beachcombers than the Greeks!
