Marmaris 5-Days Cruises

The lowdown on marmaris 5 days cruises

Of all the cruises available in Turkey, Marmaris is without a doubt the most popular destination. Here you can purchase yacht tours of the area, or hire a local boat (known as a “Gulet”) for a more personal touch. There are several cruises available in Marmaris, and we’ll focus on the most popular activities available.

Here’s some tips to help you make the most of your trip:

The best time to visit Marmaris is September and October. The climate is meditarrean, which means hot and humid (well over 105 degrees in the summer). Fortunately, the majority of tourists attend during the hot season, with the remainder visiting in September. If you can, try and book a cruise in October; the weather is great, and there aren’t as many tourists. Keep in mind that there are less than 20,000 residents in Marmaris, but the population explodes to 300,000 during the high season. All the more reason to take a cruise…

Most cruises leave Marmaris and head along the Aegean sea towards the wonderful port city of Fethiye. While here, you cannot miss checking out the ancient Lycan tombs (over two thousand years old). Depending on the route, some cruises will stay in Fethiye for the evening and a full day after, while others shove off and make way towards the Yassica Islands, known for its world class diving and snorkeling.

Any cruise through the Aegean Sea requires more sunscreen than clothing (which is a lot more fun anyway!). Make sure to pack lightly so as to avoid any extra luggage costs. At the time of this writing, most airlines were considering reducing their baggage allowance to one fifty pound (20 kg) piece of luggage. If you are flying with a low cost airline such as Ryan Air and Easy Jet, make sure to read the fine print: often times, they often allow you to bring extra bags for a small fee, BUT they don’t increase the weight limit! Take my advice: pack lightly, you won’t need much in Turkey during the warm season anyway.
