Cheap Travel Websites

Thanks to the popularity of sites like Expedia, cheap travel websites are all over the place. But is it really worth it? After all, if you’re searching for cheap flights, and all the websites say the same thing, are you really getting any value?

In this article we will look at some of the best travel websites, and why they can save you a bundle on your next travel excursion.

Kayak.com When I worked for a travel agency, every travel agent had this website on their desktop; it was the de facto symbol of our competition. And I hate to admit that there were times when this site actually beat our fares. Highly recommended.

Vayama.com This site has access to specially negotiated fares, instead of just published fares. Right now they are advertising a flight from New York to Buenos Aires for $634!
Wholesalers. If you’ve spent any time on this website, you’ll know how much I love wholesale tickets. Search online for “wholesale travel rates” and you’ll find a great list of cheap travel websites.

Travelocity.com/lastminutedeals. I’m not a huge fan of Travelocity, but their last minute section is a great resource if you are looking for a cheap, short term trip.

The airlines themselves. What a shock! Whoever would have thought that you could find cheap airfares from the providers website? While this is true for every airline (who publishes special, web only fares) it is especially true for Southwest; if you go to Swabiz.com you will probably find the cheapest flights anywhere. Seriously.

Well, there you have it: my favorite cheap travel websites. Take a look at these and make sure to check them against each other; as they have different databases, you are not running in circles.
