Free Brochure Travel Guides: There is an overabundance of free brochures, travel guides and sample itineraries online today. Travel, unfortunately, is going the way of legal, financial and mortgage industry and becoming saturated with worthless websites.  Here is a list of websites that provide free brochures that are really worth your time...

Free International Travel Guides: Free international travel guides abound, thanks to the internet. While they may not be as robust as a Lonely Planet or Rough Guide, online travel guides can give you more information in less time. On my last trip to southeast asia, I didn’t even bother with a book… all the intelligence I needed was on one site.

Online World Travel Guides: Online, world travel guides have grown more in the past ten years than any other time in recent history. The ease of creating a travel guide online, and the accessibility of billions of people make the internet the place for world travel planning in the future. There are literally millions of travel guides available today, and to provide a thorough analysis of all of them would be a waste of time. Here is a list of my favorite online world travel guides; some are free, some are reasonable, all of them are invaluable.

Travel Agent Publications: This a brief list of travel agent publications that I have found useful over the years.

Travel Agents Gazetteer: Looking for a list of travel agents and tour operators in the UK? Look no further… below you will find a brief travel agents gazetteer...

World Travel Directories: World travel research is an adventure in itself, and it pays to have as much quality help as you can get. The first time I went on a round the world trip, I did so with no research whatsoever. After several embarrassing moments (such as “what country is Singapore in?” and “I need a visa to get into Vietnam?”) it became apparent that some study was in order.  Here are some world travel directories I’ve found very useful over the years...

World Travel Guide Network: One of the easiest ways to build your own personal world travel guide is to network.  No, I don’t mean wander the streets of Pokhara asking locals about the best temple to visit (though that’s probably a good idea). Rather, there are several forums out there that will help you prepare for your world travel. Here is a brief list of who to talk to about where to go...

World Travel Statistics: More and more people are traveling the world. The most common response to the question “What would you do if you didn’t have to work?” is “World travel.” So, if so many people want to travel the world, and so many people think it’s truly impossible to get away for long enough to really enjoy it, how then do we bridge this gap? In order to understand peoples concern, let’s take a look at my personal world travel statistics.
